چکیده

Abstract Avian infectious bronchitis (IB) is a highly contagious disease caused by virus (IBV), coronavirus of domestic fowl. IB major concern in the poultry industry, causing worldwide economic losses through decreased egg production and quality increasing chicken's susceptibility for secondary bacterial infections, particularly Escherichia coli . In this study, anti‐IBV activity cathelicidins, small antimicrobial peptides innate immune system was investigated. The cell culture adapted (nonvirulent) IBV strain Beaudette effectively inhibited human cathelicidin LL‐37 bovine hamster kidney‐21 cells at nontoxic concentrations. peptide needed to be present during inoculation inhibit infection IBV‐Beaudette, indicating that likely bound viral particles. However, no clear morphological changes virion upon binding were observed electron microscopy. model, chicken cathelicidins (CATH1‐3) inactive against IBV‐Beaudette. contrast, multicellular models using virulent IBV‐M41 activities different. particular, 10‐day‐old embryonic eggs with IBV‐M41, CATH‐2 reduced load higher extend than LL‐37. Similarly, tracheal organ cultures significantly presence but not These results indicate potential antiviral role vivo

Antiviral activity of selected flavonoids against Chikungunya virus.

This study focuses on the antiviral activity of selected flavonoids against the Chikungunya virus (CHIKV), a mosquito-transmitted virus that can cause incapacitating arthritis in infected individuals. Based on the results of screening on Vero cells, the tested compounds were evaluated further with various assays, including cytotoxicity assay, virus yield assay by quantitative reverse transcript...

Avian infectious bronchitis virus.

Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) is prevalent in all countries with an intensive poultry industry, with the incidence of infection approaching 100% in most locations. Vaccination is only partially successful due to the continual emergence of antigenic variants. At many sites, multiple antigenic types are simultaneously present, requiring the application of multiple vaccines. Although many coun...

Detection of infectious bronchitis virus.

The detection methods for infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) are reviewed. Advantages and disadvantages of available techniques of IBV detection by virus isolation, antigen or genome detection, and serology are discussed. Factors of influence on the level of success in detection of IBV after a disease outbreak are discussed, as are the possibilities and dangers of strain classification by protec...

Vaccination against infectious bronchitis virus: A continuous challenge.

Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) is a significant respiratory pathogen of commercial poultry that causes millions of dollars in lost revenue worldwide each year. Even though the poultry industry extensively vaccinates against IBV, emergence of new serotypes and variants continually occur, making control of the disease difficult. Current mass application strategies for IBV vaccines are ineffici...
